“I’d just like to say,” [Aziraphale] said, “if we don’t get out of this, that… I’ll have known, deep down inside, that there was a spark of goodness in you.”
“That’s right,” said Crowley bitterly. “Make my day.”
Aziraphale held out his hand.
“Nice knowing you.”
Crowley took it.
“Here’s to the next time,” he said. “And… Aziraphale?”
“Just remember I’ll have known that, deep down inside, you were just enough of a bastard to be worth liking.”
It's been a while.
Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett quickly became one of my all-time favourite books when I read it late last year. It battles it out for top place with Ender's Game (but let's face it, the authors of Good Omens are far more agreeable sorts).
These two characters followed me around in my head begging to be drawn so I finally gave in and found the art bug again. Part of the reason I love books so much is that everyone who reads them gets to imagine their own versions of the characters, settings etc. Like a movie in your own head. This is just how I see Aziraphale and Crowley.
Crowley's look, by the way, is inspired heavily by Mephistoplz on instagram (who has been very kind about my creeping on them): www.instagram.com/mephistoplz/
This is also the first piece I've been happy enough with to offer on Society6! You can check it out here:society6.com/ardella/prints
